Freddie Bols

Freddie studied the trumpet at Junior Guildhall School of Music, Edinburgh University and the Royal Academy of Music. After graduating from the RAM with a distinction for his final performance Freddie was asked to be a trumpet teaching assistant at Florida State University and given a full scholarship. 

Since completing his studies, Freddie has a demanding and varied freelance career. Particular highlights include being a member of the Heritage Orchestra for 10 years and working with bands like the Streets, Tim Minchin, the Cinematic Orchestra, Goldie, Unkle, Anthony and the Johnsons and Ben Folds, among others. His London theatre work includes being the second trumpet chair holder for The King and I and depping work on Mary Poppins, Dreamgirls, An American in Paris, Motown, Aladdin, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie and Half a Sixpence. As a member of the Novello Orchestra Freddie has played Star Wars ‘A New Hope’ and ‘The Empire Strikes Back’, Beauty and the Beast, La La Land and Bridget Jones Diary as part of their films in concert.

Freddie is a founding member of the Old Dirty Brasstards and with them he has performed all over the UK including major festivals like Glastonbury, Latitude, Bestival and Secret Garden Party.
